The breeders, Doris Ratzlaff and Donna DeFilippis, have been involved with Vizslas since 1972.
After winning a five point major from the puppy class with her first Vizsla,
Trinka, Doris knew that Vizslas would be a life long pursuit of passion for
her. After receiving a High In Trial in Obedience at the 1976 VCA Nationals
with one of Trinkas males, she realized that her enjoyment of her dogs and
the advancement of the breed extended far beyond the breed show ring. In an
effort to demonstrate the versatility of the breed, Doris began her field
experience when the VCA introduced the Versatility Certificate title. As a
result, Ch. Dorratz Diamond Tiara CD, VC was the twelfth Vizsla in the
country to obtain that title by passing Confirmation, Obedience, and Field
performances collectively. It was not until the 1980's that her interest in
hunting really soared when her dog Ch. Dorratz Double Trouble UD, MH, NA,
VC, CGC, TDI, ROM, HOF, Top Producer qualified for his JH and SH titles with
consecutive trials.
Doris has been instrumental in making considerable contributions to the breed, and in 1990 joined forces with Donna Defilippis when she obtained Ch. Dorratz Dejavous UD, JH, ROM, 2x Top Producer. In addition to her passion for showing her dogs, Donna is an avid reader and strives to stay abreast on issues surrounding the breed and dogs in general. Her knowledge about issues such as pedigrees, genetics, breed standards, health, temperament, training, breeding, and showing has been a considerable contribution by educating those around her about the standard, the well-being, and the proliferation of the breed. Doris and Donna have consistently held up the standard of the breed and both strive very hard to continue that standard by being active with the VCA and various local Vizsla clubs.
They continue to be excellent mentors to those around them who are involved with Vizslas. When asked why they are both so involved, they will both emphatically say, "for the betterment of the breed." With more than 55 years combined experience they have selectively produced 21 litters. All having made significant contributions. Together they have owned five Registry of Merit dogs. Having a long line of both Specialty and Sweepstakes winners, it is evident of their level of commitment to the vizsla breed. Collectively, their dogs and the offspring have participated in Conformation, Obedience, Hunting, Agility, Tracking, Rally, and Therapy, garnering such titles of MH, TDX, UDX, OTCH, VC, MX, MXJ, BISS, JAM, National HIT, WB, and Best In Sweepstakes. Most recently, to their credit, Ch. Dorratz Double Trouble, UD, MH, NA, VC, CGC, TDI, ROM, HOF, Top Producer was inducted into the Vizsla Hall of Fame for his exemplary representation of the breed and its standard.
